Signed by former Texas Governor, Pat M. Neff (1871-1952) , who served a four year term from 1921 to 1925. He inscribed and signed the book as follows: "Compliments of Pat M. Neff. Below his signature is a bookplate of the former owner. After his term as Governor of Texas Neff went on to become the President of Baylor University in Waco (1932-1947) . The many essays in the book are a political biography of his term in office from the inaugural address to his farewell speech. He discusses his accomplishments and a vision of Texas. 324 pages. The book has a very dim highlight on one sentence on page 7 and one sentence on page 8. This is the only highlighting in the book. No dust jacket. A very nice first edition signed by an early 20th century Texas Governor. Book is in Very Good condition. ; Standard Book Size.; 324 pages; Signed by Author .

Black textured cloth, titles and Texas star in gilt on the cover, titles stamped on the spine. Edges trimmed. Owner ink stamp on back endpaper "John S. Mayfield Curator of Manuscripts and Rare Books Syracuse University Library" with a few pencil annotations by him and his father. Edges lightly foxed. Gilt lost from spine titles. Corners bumped and spine ends rubbed, spine sunned. Neff was a merciless prosecutor, prohibitionist and strict educator who served as Governor of Texas 1921 - 25 and President of Baylor University 1932 - 47. Collected here are memoirs, addresses and proclamations from his time as Governor.
