About This Item
New York : Omnibus Press : Distributed By The Putnam Pub. Group, [1983], C1982, 1983. First Edition. Paperback. Fine paperback copy. Particularly and surprisingly well-preserved; tight, bright, clean and especially sharp-cornered. ; 126 pages; Description: 126 p. : chiefly ill. ; 30 cm. Subjects: Beatles --Pictorial works. Rock musicians --England --Pictorial works. Summary: Dezo Hoffman took the first professional photos ever taken of The Beatles, showing a young George Harrison with a black eye. He'd been in a fight the night before with a Liverpudlian Pete Best fan, angered over the drummer being replaced by Ringo Starr. These are all black & white photos mainly spanning the years of 1962-1966. One gets the sense in the later pictures that The Beatles had tired of the contrived goofing around poses. However, the early photos are great fun and Dezo includes some interesting anecdotes about the band as they rose to the height of fame.
