About This Item

New York: Simon & Schuster, 1926. Second Printing. Hardcover. Very Good. Small octavo. Black, cloth-covered boards, ruled in blind. Spine sunned and a wee bit of fraying to spinecaps. Pages lightly toned. 173 pp. A novel set in Vienna whose characters step outside the moral boundaries of traditional married life. Widowed Beatrice is vacationing with her son Hugo, who is about to begin an affair with a woman which his mother (Beatrice) does not approve of. Her mother begins a passionate affair with Hugo's best friend,
and it is eventually revealed that Hugo's father had many extramarital affairs during the course of his
marriage to Beatrice. And so it goes. And goes. And goes.
