At one time this was a lovely binding, a signed binding by Zaehnsdorf which has fallen into disrepair. All edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Gilt panelled spine. Twenty-two full-page engravings of beautiful ladies of the day, tissue-guards. Biographical sketches of each of the women. The plates are quite clean as is the text material. 222pp. Priced to condition.. First Edition. Full Blue Morocco. General Wear/No Jacket. Quarto.

VG- (scuffs, scratches to board; light, round identation to front board; score to back. rubbing to spine edges, ends & raised bands. corners rubbed.). navy leather boards w/ gilt trim, six raised bands w/ seven gilt printed compartments. multi-color marbled pastedowns & endpapers. book ix, 222 pgs w/ bw engravings. top edge gilt. Pages lightly tanned. Pages will have instances of light smudges, marks and foxing. Instances of dense foxing to engravings, primarily to edges and reverse. Dark blue ink-like stain to textblock re-edge with remnants to page edges. Approximately 9lbs of shipping.
