Louis Auchincloss (1917 - 2010), who grew up as a favored scion of a prestigious old patrician family, became an American lawyer, novelist, historian, and essayist. He is best known as a novelist who explored the experiences and psychology of American polite society and old money from New England and New York. His dry, ironic works of fiction continue the tradition of Henry James and Edith Wharton. SUPERIOR CONDITION! Tight, no notes (apart from LA's inscription). No remainder markings.
