Zürich: Universität Zürich, 1980 Soft cover, 8vo, in pictorial printed wraps, 156pp. In Swiss German. "Contributions to the Behavior of Snow Leopards in Zoological Gardens (Schreber, 1775)." The Inaugural Doctoral Dissertation of Herr Dr. Rieger von Fischenthal (ZH) presented to the faculty of the University of Zürich.** Condition: Very Good Plus. Light foxing to top and fore-edge of textblock, and to title page. Otherwise, clean and tight and with Ownership stamp to title page.** The German naturalist Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber described the snow leopard in the current Linnean classification in his seminal work begun in 1774 entitled, Die Säugethiere in Abbildungen nach der Natur mit Beschreibungen, (Mammals in Illustrations According to Nature, with Descriptions) Prof. Rieger has gone on to publish numerous zoological articles on subjects ranging from bats, glow worms and Swiss beetles, amongst others. This copy belonged to Mammalogist Duane A. Schlitter, Curator of Mammals at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, another notable bat man. . First Edition. Soft Cover. Very Good Plus.
