Plus lithographic allegorical frontispiece to the first volume and a portrait frontispiece to the last. Plus numerous maps and lithographic plates, many folding or double-page, one map hand-coloured. HARDCOVER, uniformly bound in the original half calf and marbled boards by "Atelier de Lapierre", gilt decorated spines, marbled edges. Binding rubbed here and there, chafed or little worn in places, interior occasionally foxed in places, old bookplate to each volume. That said, a lovely set in good condition with overall fine plates and maps. ~ FIRST EDITION. Fully collated for completeness. The wonderful plates depicts historical portraits, costumes, battlefield scenes, views, topographical maps, etc. E-5 OUT
