About This Item
1st Edition . Soft cover. Good. Ella, Mrs Walter Crum. 12mo, unpaginated, green paper wrappers much faded, the edges creased and torn where the wrappers exceed the text block, interior with some ink corrections but crisp and clean, pages uncut, binding sound. A curious publication, obviously privately printed with no details. However, Belstead was a house dating back to the 16th Century on the outskirts of Ipswich, Suffolk and the poems and paintings concentrate upon the Aldeburgh area on the Suffolk coast. In the dedication, the author writes 'With love to all who have been at Belstead'. The house was sold to a Major Quilter in 1910 and Mrs Crum exhibited at the Ipswich Fine Art Club between 1909 and 1913 so one must conclude that this was produced c.1910 as a tribute to the house. Need I say that it is rare?
