Lovely edition from the Heritage Press from 1939 of the legendary poem, translated into verse by William Ellery Leonard & illustrated by Lynd Ward with dramatic Deco-style colored woodcut designs throughout the 120 pages of text. Hardcover book has cream-colored textured linen cloth over boards with a bright blue title box & gilt lettering to front & spine. Condition is Near Fine: completely clean save for 1 tiny ink spot to ffep & slight darkening to spine. Binding straight & strong, pages creamy white with a hint of tanning around edges, but unmarked; colors vivid on all plates. NO DJ, as issued, NO slipcase (missing).
