The text is illustrated with eight black and white reproductions of paintings and eight illustrations executed via the author. Brown coloured boards with gilt writing on the spine. Bumping and rubbing to the head and to the heel of the spine and shelfwear to the lower book edges. Faint foxing marks to the top paper edge and light browning to the other edges. A few marks to the endpapers and very light tanning to the internal pages. Previous owners sticker to the front paste down. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing authors' drawing of a young Queen Elizabeth the First, against a green background and black writing on the front panel and spine. Rubbing to the dustwrapper corners and the spine is faded. Creasing to the top dustwrapper edge. A novel about the Tudor kings and queens, particularly about Queen Elizabeth the first and the political intrigue of that Royal Court. This is the first UK edition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
