New Castle, Delaware: Oak Knoll Press, 2016. paperback. 8.27 x 11.69 inches. paperback. 128 pages. "Spellerberg has become an important new authority on implements designed to do controlled damage to paper. In the process, he's turned what most people thought they knew about these objects, particularly about page turners, on its head." - Ben Marks, Collector's Weekly "The book is illustrated with paper-knives and paper-folders of every design... There are cutters in the form of a stockinged leg, a hammer, a cricket bat, a ruler (with postal information, and an alligator." - J.C, TLS "As its subtitle notes, this is indeed a study, implying thoughtful, balanced and well considered [writing] rather than a mere price guide or pictorial history... You'd never think such a narrow subject (!) could be so deeply explored, but Spellerberg does so in a lively yet scholarly fashion." - William Butts, Manuscripts "Well-researched and eloquently presented... Readers are provided with a dazzling array…

"Overall, an astonishing achievement from a scholar with an unerring eye for the minutiae of typgraphical identification, this is a volume that will long remain useful for printing historians." -- David Shaw, The Library, June 2018 "Nobody is better qualified than Hendrik Vervliet... to establish which of these ornaments are by Granjon, and to say when and where they were used. ... Description:
London: Unit Editions, 2021. 1st ed. Paperback. New/no dj as issued. A long overdue book examining the extraordinary life and work of artist/designer Ed Fella. Ed Fella is revered by many of the leading names in contemporary design. Now, at long last, there is a book that charts Ed's journey from the commercial design studios of 1950s Detroit to his current position as a widely celebrated artist/designer. Ed Fella: A Life in Images makes extensive use of his vast treasure store of visual delight: it showcases flyers, posters, original sketches, drawings, Polaroids and collages, as well as items from Ed's collection of vernacular design. The book makes unrestricted use of Ed's vast archive. David Cabianca, the book's co-author and its instigator, has surveyed the archive in depth. He writes: "Ed Fella's archive is legion. It branches into numerous streams while sustaining a robust trail of examples along the way. Fella's archive exhausts the possibilities one might find in graphic design. Ed Fella…
