New York: A. C. Armstrong & Son, 1885. Limited ed. Vellum. Very Good. 5 3/4 x 8 inches. Illustrated with Woodcuts. Text is easily legible, woodcuts are crisp and clean. Gift inscription from previous owner on endpaper (1884-1953), possibly of Northampton, MA, on the occasion of his first Christmas. Interior pages are uncut with some chipped and tears to edges, some foxing spots and smudges. Pages are wavy to the touch. Endpapers have some foxing and smudges, small tear to paper on front hinge Number 90 of a limited edition of 375: "This edition consists of three hundred and seventy-five copies printed for America by Unwin Brothers, of London, England". "Imprynted atte the sign offe The Grasshopper, bye Unwin Brothers, The Gresham presse, inne Little Bridge Street, inne the parish offe S. Anne's, Blackfriars, and to bee solde bye T. Fisher Unwin, atte hise shop inne Paternofter Square, inne the Citie offe London, England". Top page edge rouged. Bound in contemporary full vellum binding with gilt cober design and gilt lettering and design to spine with two working engraved metal clasps. Cover corners are lightly bumped. Spine ends and corners are rubbed with small tears. Covers lightly soiled. wear to joints. A scarce title.
