Hamburg / Leipzig: Carl Ernst Bohn / Officina Breitkopfia, 1790 Twelve volumes in-4, XXVIII, 887, [1] pp; XX, 874 pp; XVIII, 844 pp; XVI, 895, [1] pp; XVIII, 800 pp; XVI, 822, [2] pp; XXIII, [1], 804 pp; XIV, 700 [i.e. 698] pp; XIV, 762 pp; XVI, 776 pp; XII, 724 pp; XII, 796 pp. Contemporary calf-backed boards with corners, gilt title on the spine, and green silk bookmarks (bindings slightly rubbed, some foxing and toning of paper, various small defects). From the library of Walther Sterneak (bookplate). The last volume was published in 1809. In some volumes, the edition is indicated as Tertia (volume V) or Nova (volumes VI-XII). Johann Albert Fabricius (1668-1736) was the leading classical philologist of his time and the author of many useful bibliographical works such as Bibliotheca Latina (1697), Bibliotheca Antiquaria (1713), Bibliotheca Ecclesiastica (1718), and his most important work, Bibliotheca Graeca (1705-1728). The present definitive edition was edited by G. C. Harless. Its divisions are marked off by Homer, Plato, Jesus, Constantine, the capture of Constantinople in 1453, while a sixth section is devoted to canon law, jurisprudence, and medicine.
