Jacket slightly chipped at edges with stains to rear panel and spine. Light rubbing to board edges and joints. Internally clean. Owner's sticker to front pastedown. A presentation on the prelim to a niece of Sir Bertram Jerram - a British diplomat and ambassador - who the main presentation from Arthur Ransome addresses on the half title, along with the intriguing message "Thirty years after!"; Ransome was known to have been a spy in Estonia and Russia around 30 years before the date of the presentation in 1952, and they kept up a correspondence for years in which they discussed Estonia, so who knows... Illustrations throughout by the author. . Very Good. Cloth. Ninth Impression. 1940.

Synopsis

The Big Six is the ninth book of Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons series of children's books, published in 1940. The book returns Dick and Dorothea Callum, known as the Ds, to the Norfolk Broads where they renew their friendship with the members of the Coot Club. This book is more of a detective story as the Ds and Coot Club try to unravel a mystery that threatens the Death and Glories freedom to sail the river.

Prices are in sterling, and are subject to availability. We can accept bank transfers in Sterling, Euros, US and AUS dollars. We ship priority shipping as standard, and pack our books well. Courier services available. We are also able to offer same day delivery within London postcodes for some orders - ask for a quote. Valuable items will be sent via registered airmail or one of the courier services. Large orders can be sent via consolidation, which reduces the cost per book. In the unlikely event of an incorrect description, a full refund will be provided, but please e-mail/telephone first, and within seven days of receipt of the book.
