About This Item

Akron, OH: Saalfield Publishing Co., 1907. Book. Illus. by Carll B. Williams. Very Good. Hardcover. Later Printing. Small quarto, (9" x 7"), hardcover with full color brightly illustrated (identically on front and back boards) paper covered brown boards. 187 pp. plus 3 pages of ads. Illustrated with 6 full page brilliantly full color illustrations (aside from the cover illustrations) by Arthur DeBebian plus many in-text line drawings. The 4th volume in the popular "Billy Whiskers" Series. This copy surprisingly well-preserved, with strong undamaged blue spine, (except for a faint bit of fading near top) and very solid text block, (albeit with two short tears at the inner front hinge). All 6 of the vivid color illustrations are fine, bright and flawless. All interior pages are bright, clean and without defect (i.e. no tears, creases, foxing. stains, marks, childish scrawls, etc.) with the exception of a few small dust smudges or very faint stains; none larger than a dime. The paper at the board edges is inevitably very lightly rubbed through at places, and the front forecorners very lightly bumped. The spine cloth is generally excellent clear blue. The color illlustratons on front and back show a couple of very minor touches of superficial rubbing.and a suspicion of darkening, but no spots or marks. The colors on the boards are quite clear and bright. Despite this meticulous catalog of minor flaws, this remains an attractive and very good copy of this title, in distinctly superior condition to that in which it is usually found. In this excellent condition, SCARCE..
