240 pages with photographs, maps and index. Folio (12 1/2" x 9 1/2") bound in original publisher's brown cloth with gilt lettering in original pictorial jacket. First edition. Ian Newton was Senior Ornithologist at the United Kingdom's Natural Environment Research Council. He has also been head of the Avian Biology Section at the Monks Wood Research Station (1989–2000), Chairman of the Board of The Peregrine Fund, Chairman of the Council of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds[5] and visiting professor of ornithology at the University of Oxford. Condition: Remainder mark at heal end pages else better than vry good in like jacket.
