First Edition. 4to. pp, [6], 613; 56 plates of b/w photographs; b/w line drawings in text (see below for artists), distribution maps; map on endpapers. Dust jacket very good, some fading, with very slight rubbing to edges only, now protected in a clear removable archival sleeve; hardback binding fine; contents clean and tight, a few tape residue marks to the endpaper edges, a few spots. Inscribed by the author to Bill Curtis a fellow recorder and bird enthusiast.(b/w line drawings by R. G. Hawley, M. Whorley and D. I. M. Wallace. Jacket illustrations of Bempton Cliffs at "Old Mosey" by Mark Whorley) [William "Bill" F. Curtis 1942- 2019 Born at Grantham into a family of teachers he went on to study marine communications which led to many year at sea and an opportunity to study his passion for birds. A member of the Royal Naval Birdwatching Society, British Ornithologists' Union and more locally the Hornsea Bird Club. He was an active volunteer; a respected Bird Recorder, Editor of the County Bird Report and in 2004 President. ] .
