At the front of the book is a biographical "Sketch of the Author's Life." Bowen was a blind music teacher in New England who advocated for the improved treatment and education of the blind. Condition:
Clean covers and spine; cloth tears at the corners of the front cover; the top and bottom edges of the spine are worn down. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Consistent mild foxing to the pages (though heavier on the frontispiece and title page). Ex-library copy with a label affixed to the front pastedown, and a card sleeve & date sheet affixed to the rear end paper and pastedown. Overall the book is in Good- condition.
