DJ virtually complete, but worn and torn along front fold. The protagonist, who is 11, lives in a cabin in the wilds of Minnesota. He longs for a dog and adventure. When his uncle Erik arrives from Norway, they join a group emigrating to British Columbia. The boy, Nels, quickly makes a friend about his age, but the tribal shaman, Askankot, is a source of suspicion and anger, leading to more adventure than Nels had hoped for. 136 pp..
