About This Item

New York: Random House, 1972. Hardcover. 8vo. Black cloth spine with red lettering and green paper over boards, pictorial dust jacket. 178pp. Near fine/near fine. Superbly tight and lovely first edition of the 30th volume in the 87th Precinct series, the famed police procedural novels -- this choice copy with appropriate autograph addition: Tipped to the front flyleaf is a fine heavy stock 5" X 3" card signed boldly in blue ballpoint by DONALD SUTHERLAND (on verso of which is apparently a secretarial signature of same, this dated "March 28, 81"). Sutherland (born 1935) played lead character Steve Carella in the 1978 French film version (titled "Les liens de sang"). Laid in is the perfect bookmark: The original Sutherland transmittal envelope.
