The Blue Fairy Book by Lang, Andrew (Ed) - 1893

A Good Copy of this book in publisher's original decorated and gold gilt embossed dark blue hardcover cloth boards, with gilt title lettering to spine and with faded/rubbed gilt decoration to spine, and gilt illustration of a wizard to the front cover. The book has maintained it's original black endpapers. There are no names or other details of previous owners inside. . All the page edges of the book are in gilt (AEG) , but the gilt is wearing thin in places. The Cloth at the ends of the spine has started to fray - see picture on abe or our own website at peakirkbooks. The cover corners are also worn , with the cloth splitting and the card just peeping through. There is a small closed tear, approx 1 cm, on the title page. The book's binding is reasonably firm, hinges solid except for a tiny weakness at the very end of the book where the last page is beginning to come away at the bottom. There are no loose pages. Profusely illustrated in black and white by Henry Ford and Jacomb Hood with 8 full page plates (the frontis is tissue protected) and a multitude of illustrations set within or wrapped around the text. There are occasional foxing spots & marks to pages. This is a solid and reasonable copy of an early edition of the First Fairy book in the series, ; Fairy Books; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
