Racine, WI:: Whitman Publishing Co.,, (c 1925.). Good overall in blue cloth (previous owner's dated 1943, usual toning to the pages, some wear to the covers). Reprint. The third in this series about three sisters who are forced to move into a small apartment in New York City after the death of their parents - and in each book, in addition to the usual financial struggles, something terrible happens to one of the sisters or a close friend. Although the Stratemeyer Syndicate house name of Laura Lee Hope is most closely associated with the Bobbsey Twins series, these rather dark books are written for older girls. The author - Elizabeth M. Duffield Ward - also wrote the later books in the Outdoor Girls series. 214 pp. plus 2 pp of publisher's ads.
