Willard Baker was the author of the Boy Ranchers and the Diamond X series as well as the Bob Dexter series in the 1920's and 1930's. Three books in the series are listed on the verso of the title page Original cream-colored cloth publisher's covers with dark blue spine and cover lettering and dark blue cover decoration of Bob Dexter's head and shoulders looking through a window. Lacks the original dust jacket. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates (there is a small, old store price sticker on the upper corner inside the front cover. ; B&W Frontis Illustration; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 248 pages .

Near fine in green cloth with black lettering in a quite worn dust jacket with a loss of about 2 inches at the base of the spine, tears along the folds etc - now protected by an archival cover, and despite its wear, it did protect the book itself. . First thus. Omnibus edition containing four complete adventure novels for boys, the first books in several popular series - each with its own title page, and separate pagination. Included are "Bomba the Jungle Boy of the Old Naturalist's Secret" by Rockwood (204 pp); the first title in the Slim Tyler Air Series "Sky Riders of the Atlantic" by Stone (208 pp); " Bob Dexter and the Club House Mystery" by Willard F. Baker (248 pp) and the first in teh Jerry Ford Wonder series "Wrecked on Cannibal Island" by Fenworth Moore. Color frontispiece, 2 full-page plates. Good plus/good plus. Binding a bit edgeworn and lightly soiled, with a few stray marks; some small stains to outer page edges; ownership name/address on front pastedown; jacket rather edgeworn, with tiny chips at corners and at spine head/tail. A tight and decent apparent first edition of the first title in the 7-volume "Bob Dexter Mystery Series" (1925-33). Like many series, it began with the first three titles published simultaneously, so copyright page list shows this trio, as does the ad at rear. Though worn as described, this is a scarce "first of the first" and the usually-absent dust jacket is present and fairly attractive.
