About This Item
"The Bodley's Afoot" by Horace Elisha Scudder. 1880; Houghton, Osgood and Company; Boston. The book features illustrations throughout (including many that are full-page), as well as a few musical scores; illustrated end papers. This is book four of the Bodley's book series - - a trip to New York by Nathan Bodley and Ned Adams gets as far as New Haven because a dispatch from Mr. Bodley brings them back at once to Massachusetts by rail.
The contents are as follows: Hen; The Roseland and Santa Fe Railroad; Phippy's Menagerie; Jog On, Jog On; In Good Old Colony Days; Squirrels and Wolf-Den; The House on the Corner; A Sunday with Old People; Cherries and Plums; Hunting for Yale; Grandfather's Legacy; An Old Man's Story About Himself.
Condition:
Some light soiling to the covers (note: the light gray "staining" that appears across the center of the front cover and at bottom of the back cover, and the light orange "staining" near the bottom of the back cover are part of the cover design, as issued); the top layer of paper has peeled a bit at the top and bottom edges of the spine; worn corners. Some chipping along the edges of the boards. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The inside of the book is in excellent condition - mostly clean pages with only an occasional light ink smudge here and there. Overall the book is in very good condition.
