Chicago & New York: Rand McNally & Company, Publishers, 1902. Opie Read (1852-1939) worked as a journalist but also produced about 60 books. Known as a "Southern writer." Many of his works appeared in dime novels. First published in 1897; this is a Very Good copy of a reprint from five years later that is less common than the original. Green cloth binding with titling in gilt; fancy decorations in gilt bordered in red. Clean text; 266 pages; top edge is gilt. Previous-owner signature on the FFEP. Lightly rubbed around the margins. A solid copy.. Reprint Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
