Oxford: W. Jackson and A. Hamilton, Printers to the University, 1790. Leather_bound. Very Good. 9 x 11 1/4 inches. Large 4to. 1 ffep + A -Eee in 4s + Fff (2 leaves) + 1 rfep. Some page corners repaired. Owners name in neat contemporary ink to title page "George Leycester" (1768-1827) of Toft Hall in Cheshire, a well-known Cricket player. Bound in contemporary reverse leather with blind stamping in Georgian panel style and black morocco label on front cover with gilt bordering and lettering, TOFT 1824. Front hinge split with old repair to inner hinge. Covers worn with loss of leather. Griffiths 1790/2. A Gentleman Cricket Players copy of a notable edition of the Book of Common Prayer which was collated with the Oxford copy and corrected by Dr. John Parsons, according to an annotation in the file copy.
