The 1928 Book of Common Prayer to me has the profoundest aesthetic appeal; inter alia this reason and for Christian values I have linked with an Orthodox Anglican Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The issue of Christian ethics in this case dovetails-- in a way contrary to Kierkegaard's Either/Or-- with this aesthetic choice. Simply put, it is easier to love my brothers and sisters because of this book and the more-general thrust for Orthodoxy. The 'King James English' of the 1928 Prayer Book appeals much to me; and I find that the singing/chanting of this book comes easier than the 1979 Prayer Book.In a word, I am speaking in favor of a value expressed in a Latin saying, "In matters of taste there should be no disputation," and thus giving a profound vote of preface for the old Prayer Book over the new.--Vernon Lynn Stephens
