1855. SMITH, Daniel. A Book for Everybody. The Reformed Botanic and Indian Physician: A Complete Guide to Health. Utica, NY: Curtiss & White, 1855. 1st ed. 12mo. 419, [1] pp., frontis., illus. In orig. cloth. Only minor soiling including a small stain to the top edge of the front board. Spine a trifled sunned. Pencil notes to the front free endpaper and preliminary blanks, the latter with some erasures. A very presentable copy in very good condition or better. An early guide on plants employed in the healing process and how Native Americans utilized them. Like many medical texts and herbals of this era it has a wide scope and includes advice on treating cattle and poultry and a chapter titled, "Remarks on Hunting, Fishing, and Catching Game." Rare in commerce and with limited institutional holdings according to OCLC.
