About This Item
Elliot Stock, 1893. 1st Edition. Softcover. VG+/VG+. 1st Edition. 108 x 173 cm paperback in original glassine jacket with gilt stamped titles to the front and spine and decoration to the front and rear. Uncut edges [xiv] 218 [2]pp with 21 black and white illustrations by Boyle. The book is clean and bright with a little rubbing to the bottom corner of the front cover. Internally it is without name inscription or bookplate an only a touch of toning to the uncut edges and a small 3mm ink dot to the top of the recto of the frontispiece. The front free endpaper has been removed at some point. The delicate glassine jacket is remarkably well preserved considering its age. It has a little toning and a hint of wrinkling at the front, with a little rubbing to the corners and spine tips which have minor loss. The loss to the head of the spine extends a little onto the front panel for 1cm. Printed glassine jackets from this period are difficult to find particularly in such lovely condition. Rainford & Parris Books welcomes enquiries, so please do not hesitate to ask if you require further images or have any questions. All books are packaged with great care.
