About This Item

New York: Sheldon and Company, 1863. First. Fair. John Hill Burton FRSE (1809 - 1881) was a Scottish advocate, historian and economist. The author of Life and Correspondence of David Hume, he was secretary of the Scottish Prison Board (1854-77), and Historiographer Royal (1867-1881)

This copy is fair only in brownish purple cloth with a paper title label on the spine.  Covers are worn, with minor loss at the spine ends.  Ex-library with call number on lower spine and minor stamps and numbering on first few pages.  Paper title label is mostly worn away, so that it's now illegible.  Hinges and text block are cracked, but although the binding is loose it is still holding everything together.  Some age darkening of the text, but no other marks..
