Dodd, Mead & Company, 1958. First Edition (1958.) Hardcover with dust jacket. 8vo with 624 pages. The book is in good condition with slight shelf wear. Water staining to bottom of cloth. Interior is clean and tight with very slight toning to endpapers and paste downs. The dust jacket is in fair condition with 2 tears one to top of front cover 1" and the other to rear panel 1" and chipping to edges. Slight water damage to bottom of the jacket with sunning to the spine. " I read some portions of this book to get a good laugh and to bring out the sense of humor in myself. I tell you Hughes and Bontemps had a way with words, that caused them to flow. Please read, laugh, have a sense of humor and reap along the way...This is one of the definitive books on the black experience in the USA." Langston Hughes is an American treasure.
