London and Edinburgh; Boston: T.N. Foulis; LeRoy Phillips, 1912. October 1912 printing. NEAR FINE in GOOD+ dust jacket. A clean, unmarked and tightly bound copy. Illustrated with 8 tipped-in plates, exquisitely rendered watercolors by Beatrice Parsons. Each with tissue guards. Tissues have toned, resulting in light toning to facing text pages but the color plates are barely affected and remain clear and bright. Top page edge marble-gilt, front and bottom edges untrimmed. Violet endpapers. Hardcover of violet paper over boards, title gilt-stampede on spine and in purple on front cover. Two small corner bumps. Binding and hinges firm, intact and straight. Jacket features color paste-down of one of the watercolors. Jacket has light toning and moderate edge wear with tiny closed tears and one half-inch chip from top of spine. Jacket is in a clear protector. 4-1/2 x 6-7/8". [viii] + 113 text pages plus plates. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Good+. Illus. by Parsons, Beatrice.

Rough cut edges to textblock. Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Binding remains firm. A previous owner's name to half-title page. Minor pencil inscription to front free endpaper. Boards have moderate shelf wear with mild bumping and fraying to corners and crushing and fraying to spine ends. All surfaces tanned and sunned, particularly spine. Gilt lettering to spine is slightly dulled.
