Octavo in brick cloth stamped in gilt, edges uncut; 175 pps. with index; profusely illustrated with engraved examples of bookplates. One of six offerings in the handsome "Books About Books" series edited by Alfred W. Pollard. A scholarly yet entertaining study of the collecting of bookplates, one of the more interesting sub-manias of bibliophilia. The author examines the early use of bookplates in England, styles and types of bookplates , German, French and American bookplates, ladies bookplates and a section on book curses. A very good copy, tight with rubbing to the spine, offsetting to the endpapers and title page opposite the tissue guard. Quite interesting indeed.
