This volume of Livy's history of Rome bears the ownership signature of classical scholar Charles Norris Cochrane, (1889-1945), author of "Christianity and Classical Culture", 1940. George [Parkin] Grant considered "Christianity and Classical Culture" to be "the most important book ever written by a Canadian". Harold Innis referred to it as "the first major Canadian contribution to the intellectual history of the West". Here, in Livy's text, Cochrane has made numerous markings and comments in the page margins ans some further notes on the rear endpapers. The spine is leaned, with slight wear and fraying to the ends, else very good..
