From a review of the catalogue in Fine Print by Stephen G. Herrick: "This catalog, representing years of gathering for a once-in-a-generation sale, will be considered a classic and a reference work as was the Quaritch bookbinding catalog of 1921. Offered were 302 fine bindings beginning with a "London Binding" of 1506 and including three Samuel Mearne bindings, two of Roger Payne, and five of Edwards of Halifax. Douglas Cockerell and Katherine Adams are each represented with one binding, and contemporary English binders with eleven." Herrick goes on to note that about athird of the catalogue items were purchased by a single collector. Gift inscription on recto of frontispiece, Very Good.
