About This Item
Boulder, CO East European Quarterly, 1979. Hardcover INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY AUTHOR, "To Vivian and her work kon the index may it be the start of her scholarship in history, Richard Carmel May 20, 1979". Very Good: shows just a touch of wear to the extremities and the faintest soiling; foxing at the outside edges and endpapers. Binding shows heavy spine lean, but remains perfectly secure; text clean. Flawed, but remains structurally sound and tightly bound: a clean, sturdy, and presentable presentation copy. It appears that this may be a Remainder, showing two tiny dots at the bottom edge (though a local bookseller has used dots on the bottom edge to distinguish 'new' from 'used' books. NOT a Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. 141pp. East European Monographs Series, Number XLIX. Hardback: Lacks DJ, if it indeed ever had one. If you don't read Polish, this is your best overview of the Second Republic's secret service. It covers radio intercepts, cyrptography, and use of human agents against both the U.S.S.R. and Germany. The Polish contribution to "Ultra" is also made clear. I was especially intrigued by Polish efforts to undermine the Soviet Union, some of which sound like the basis of a good spy novel! INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY AUTHOR.
