About This Item
New York; (1992): Crossroads. First Edition in English. Octavo. 664p. index. Translated from the Germany John Bowden. The most important book on defining the preincarnate Christ. Hans Kung noted this was a book I would like to have written myself. He shows a mastery in understanding Harnack, Barth and Bultmann as well as contemporary theologians in both the Catholic and Protestant tradition. His references to both the terms 'wisdom' and 'Son of Man' in the Hebrew Bible to the early Christological hymns. The extensive notes and bibliography on p. 559-664 allow the serious reader to follow up on further scholarly discussions on this central issue. A near fine, bright copy with just a hint of fading to board edges. bound in gray cloth, spine lettering gilt, in fine dust jacket.
