Rubbed and frayed on ends of spine and along edges, boards and edges smudged, backstrip pulled away from spine and page cracked at title page so book shaken, previous owners inscription scratched out on fly title page. Closed tear (3 inch) on page 37 and tear (1/2 inch) on bottom of page 829, small smudge on 10 pages, small nick on fore edge of several pages, page 643 dog-eared, smudge on top corner of page 693-699 (Cakes)), stains page 772-777 (Jams), publishing error page 793 and 799 - page folded over on itself. Overall, very good minus. . Hard Cover. Very Good Minus/No DJ. Illus. by Corrigan, Barbara. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
