About This Item
This is a lot of eight original BOSTON MUSEUM programs ranging in date from 1867 to 1874. The July 6, 1874 program contains a reference to "Booth's Theatre" built by actor Edwin Booth, the brother of John Wilkes Booth, fellow actor and the assassin of President Abraham Lincoln. All programs contain four pages (on one double-sided sheet) and have advertisements (many are illustrated). Founded in 1841, the Boston Museum was one of the leading theaters of 19th century Boston. Aside from its theatrical productions, the Boston Museum also featured attractions such as a wax museum, natural history museum, zoo, and art museum. The largest program measures approximately 11 3/4" tall x 8 1/2" wide when folded.
