(Mbabane: High Commission Printing and Publishing Company Limited, 1963). 8vo; original red cloth,lettered in black on upper cover; pp. (iv) + 48; some plates, incl. folding; folding chart in end-pocket. Spine lettered in pen, and snagged at head; free endpapers have been removed. Good. Author was born in Nieuwendam, near Amsterdam, Holland, in 1875, and came to South Africa as a young man. His family were related to the South African Rissik family. He was engaged by the Transvaal state railway company for a while to do draughting work. There follow recollections of life in the Z.A.R. shortly before the Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902. .
