About This Item

Toronto: Random House Canada, 2009. (CAD) 1st printing. INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR to the title page: "For ------/ with thanks for a great morning in Vancouver/ Ian Brown", no othe rmakrings, Fine in unclipped Near Fine dust jacket with a touch of rubbing to edges of Dj. There is printed sheet (unsigned) of a text presenting Mr Brown to an audience laid into the book. Boards, 295pp, a couple of B&W photos. Walker Brown was born with a genetic mutation so rare that doctors call it an orphan syndrome: perhaps 300 people around the world also live with it. Walker turns twelve in 2008, but he weighs only 54 pounds, is still in diapers, can’t speak and needs to wear special cuffs on his arms so that he can’t continually hit himself. Sometimes watching him, Brown writes, is like looking at the man in the moon but you know there is actually no man there. But if Walker is so insubstantial, why does he feel so important? What is he trying to show me?" (1.8 JM HOJ 302/0. Inscribed By Author. 1st. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾".

About JWMah

JWMah has been selling out-of-print, used and rare books on the Internet since 1997. Our stock consists of a good balance of fiction and non-fiction books in a wide range of subjects. We also sell classical Lp records. Our Cookbooks, Canadiana, Travel and Exploration catalogues are worth a look. We examine each book that we sell and try our best to grade the books conservatively. We are strictly an internet business, so usually the books put up for sale are in stock. We try update our books every two days so that our listings are as fresh as possible. It is best to contact us by e-mail or by telephone to reserve a book, as some books sell quickly. We are located in Canada's westcoast and we ship internationally.
