Description:
Albany, NY, 1902. First Edition. Pamphlet. Very good. Staple-bound pamphlet. 9"x5 3/4". 8 pp. No wraps as issued. Small chip to upper right corner of first page. Light toning to edges and margins. 1" closed tear at bottom of crease. This is a report read at a New York State conference on penal reform in 1902. It was prepared and presented by committe chariman and progressive reformer Eugene Ambrose Philbin, cowritten by 8 other noted activist leaders, including Josephine Shaw Lowell and William Church Osborn. Springfield, MA: Milton Bradley Company, 1916. Good. A new and interesting means of industrial occupation embodied in the most pleasing pastime known to childhood. They teach the child how to make dresses in just the same manner as its own little dresses are made, and assist her to cultivate subconsciously a really educational discrimination in the selection of material, color schemes, and styles."
Includes: instruction booklet, top panel of the box (7.5 x 10 inches, no sides), 3 dolls, 18 sheets of patterned paper (8 with pieces cut out), 5 intact sheets of paper patterns, 3 cut out "background" patterns, envelope with blue tissue cutouts, 10 drawn-on dresses, and 10 collaged dresses from the supplied paper (including a few with little buttons!)
The large doll has a few small areas of abrasion and is creased at the ankles, abrasion to the box lid and booklet, minor discoloration and wear. A nice example with patterns created using multiple methods at different skill levels.

Description:
Redlands, California: Pure Gold, [1955]. Stapled wraps. Very good. [12p.] Small chips to wrap edges. The Mutual Orange Distributors (MOD) was founded in Redlands, California, in 1906 as a cooperative marketing association representing citrus growers in California. Within a few years, the coop included citrus growers in western Arizona. In 1955, MOD changed its name to Pure Gold, originally the brand name for fruit grown by the approximately 2,500 MOD growers. Sunkist took over the Pure Gold trademark when the co-op closed in 1987 due to housing developments replacing the citrus fields and the shrinking number of packing plants. This booklet explains the history of the citrus-growing culture in California and Arizona and provides information on the variety of oranges, lemons, and grapefruit grown and their cultivation and packaging. A map on the back shows the regions represented by the Pure Gold cooperative. Scarce, none located in OCLC. B&w illustrations and halftone photographs. (11"x8-1/2")
