About This Item

Clapham: Dalesman, 1974. 166 pp, 8 1/2" H. B&w photographs, 2 short scores. "A pastime - if not a way of life - which has an enormous following in Yorkshire is that of sounding brass. Yet the world of the brass band has been remarkably little documented, especially in the northern counties. This deficiency was realised by T.L. Cooper, who accordingly commenced to compile this history. The 168 pages of this book not only record much valuable social history which was in danger of being lost, but also contains many anecdotes epitomising the outlook of the dedicated Yorkshire bandsmen. An appendix lists all bands known to have existed in the county." Interior - light cigarette odour, tiny crease at bottom of first few pages, otherwise clean and tight with no other ownership marks. Exterior - very light browning - mainly on spine, faint crease on spine, very light edge wear, front hinge crease, tiny soft corner creases on front cover, minor rubbing.. First Edition. Soft Cover. Very Good-.
