About This Item

London:: Methuen,, 1930.. First edition.. Hardcover. Very Good++/good. xv, [3], 203, 8 (adverts). First owner's neat name to endpaper. [A nice jacketed copy, but with a printing error: the openings at pages 48/49, 54/55, 58/59, 62/63 are blank! There is quite a thorough synopsis of the matters dealt with in each chapter on the Contents page, so if you are happy to skip those 8 pages from this chapter - 'A Man Who Became a God', then please proceed..] Pages clean, closed edges heavily foxed, and spotting encroaches a little onto the margins of some pages. Faint tanning to free endpapers, and 1930 ownership name at front. In the original binding of reddish brown cloth, spine titled gilt: firm and bright, corners sharp. In the protected mauve dust jacket, spine slightly faded, slight tanning to top edge. The book abounds in strange and curious lore which will be of interest to all students of the ancient origin and modern survival of the eccentricities of the human mind.'

About Chapel Books

I sell books from a large disused Chapel next to the village duck pond, where I have lived about 40 years: just inland from Dunwich and between Southwold and Aldeburgh. I open 7 days a week, 12-5.
