London: Cassell Petter & Galpin, c1873. Leather. Good Only. 11" by 8". None. Two of three volumes on the history of British battles and warfare, with illustrations. Two of three volumes. Illustrated throughout with many in-text and full-page images. A detailed account of various battles in British history including: the siege of Pondicherry, naval exploits, the pursuit of Missiessy, the revolt of Delhi, war in New Zealand, and Captain Glover's expeditions. Written by James Grant, a Scottish novelist, historian, and miscellaneous writer. In the original half crushed morocco with patterned boards. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Minor loss to the head and tail of the spines with front joint starting to volume III, still firm. Marks to the boards. Internally, generally firmly bound with detached endpapers and frontispiece loosely inserted. Pages are bright with scattered spotting. Pencil inscription to the front endpaper. The top corner has been cut from the front endpaper of volume III. Good Only
