'Adam's Diary', first published in 1904, was Twain's comedic and satirical take on the Book of Genesis. It was filled with illustrations by Strothmann; however, most of them were considered pornographic in nature when it was first published in the United States.

Light brown stripe to the folding print of Door Church. ESTC states that Bowyer's records show 300 copies printed..

On ESTC the prelims are described as being iv [i.e. vi]. With 11 plates including the frontispiece and folding plan. The two plates of coins are numbered page 29* and 32*, but ar enot included in the pagination on ESTC, so I have included them in the plates. In 19th century half leather which is worn, head of spine is torn. Rough pencil outline plan of the town attached to the rear of the frontisipiece. Occasional pencil notes and occasional spotting..

This is a scarce, antique copy of "Taintor's Route and City Guides" - this particular guide is for the "Pennsylvania Coal Regions via Morris & Essex R.R." Published in 1867 by Taintor Brothers in New York. The guide features 4 color maps; the "Map of the Anthracite Coal Regions of Pennsylvania with Connecting Railways" is larger and folds out. "With sketches of the cities, villages, stations, scenery, and objects of interest along the route." There are illustrated advertisements at both the front and back. The fold-out map is clean and firmly attached.
