Lists "all books about the flora and fauna of the British Islands, including all Ireland, the Channel Islands...all general natural history books written by inhabitants of these islands, and..translations into English of relevant books by foreign authors.." - Introduction. Arranged alphabetically by author, with a brief description for each entry of the first edition, followed by a summary of its later printing history if any, and, in some cases, brief notes. The number of plates, if any, is given and an indication whether these are coloured. In addition the book includes a chronological listing of titles and a subject index.
