George Routledge and Sons Ltd, 1111. Hardcover. Acceptable. No edition remarks. 694 pages. No dust jacket. Blue cloth covered boards with gilt. Contains black and white, and colour photographic plates and in-text illustrations. Pages are moderately tanned and foxed throughout, heavier at end-papers, paste-downs and text-block edges. Cracking to gutters, with exposed netting causing the binding to be shaky. Large crack at front board. Remains of pasted in news paper at front paste-down. Previous owner inscription to front. Free end-paper. Newspaper pasted to damp stained rear paste down. Boards have heavy edge-wear with bumping to corners, crushing to spine ends and rub wear all over. Book has a slight forward lean. Minor fraying to cloth at spine ends. Mild crushing to spine ends. Gilt lettering is darkened. Hole and additional wear in spine cloth edges.
