Advance Reading Copy (trade paperback format. ) Wharton's last novel, uncompleted at the time of her death in 1937, completed for this edition by Marion Mainwaring (it was originally published in its uncompleted form in 1938, and even then received praise as one of her most sophisticated novels.)
