Mainwaring (writing pseudonymously as Homes) made his reputation with this book, but interestingly went on to be more prolific as a noted screenwriter for both films noir and other genres and styles. Basis for the classic 1947 film noir "Out of the Past," directed by Jacques Tourneur and starring Robert Mitchum, Kirk Douglas and Jane Greer.
A bright copy of a scarce title, with the easily-faded jacket colors deep and bright. Fine in a strong Very Good plus, price clipped dust jacket. Jacket shows just a few tiny nicks at the spine ends and corners, some light soil to the rear panel, and one small chip at the bottom front panel (no titling affected).
